What do you do?

I like to help brands develop simple and accurate communications and messaging, especially in the social space. There is so much noise in the world, clear communication is more important than ever both personally and professionally. Think: fact vs. fiction, less vs. more, organized vs. chaotic.

What does an average day look like for you?

Everyday is different! Some days I have a lot of zoom calls, some days only one. I have a plan for each day that sometimes gets sideswiped by whatever is hot at the moment. I am daily on all social platforms to post and keep up with trends. And then whatever email/event/program that is my client's current initiative drives my day.

How did you get here?

I first worked in corporate, then on the agency side. After having my three girls, I needed a more flexible working schedule and started to do small social media projects and websites for local businesses. That grew to doing maternity leave backups for people and then working part-time for a fully remote company for a few years. In 2019, I decided I wanted some variety and tried this freelancing gig! It's amazing how much is out there to do.

What mistakes did you make along the way that others should avoid?

For me, the biggest mistake was not forming a business right away. I was just a 1099 contractor and should have set up my LLC earlier. Also, if you don't like looking for clients, use one of the many companies that matches freelancers with people in need!

If you could go back, what advice would you give yourself when you first started out?

Be open to all possibilities and if things are slow, use the time to educate yourself. You can do so many free courses online!

What are your favorite platforms/tools?

Slack, Instagram, just starting to learn Active Campaign.

How can people find out more about you?
